Gateway Internet Browser

§1 Planned Features

Gateway is meant to be a small internet browser, not a web browser.

This means that that Gateway will allow accessing pages, lay out their contents in a basic manner and provide hyperlinks between documents. What it won't do is applying server-given styling (CSS) or logic (JavaScript).

Gateway will roughly have these features:

• User-configurable styling per host

• Favorites

• Document Outline for quick navigation

• Document Formats

  • Plain Text

  • HyperDoc 2.0

  • Gemini Text

  • Gopher Menus

  • Document-like HTML (No CSS, no JS, just basic document layouts)

  • Maybe CommonMark

• Protocols

  • Gemini protocol.

  • Gopher protocol.

  • HTTP protocol.

  • Maybe HackVR

• Configurable TLS settings

  • First-class client certificates

  • TOFU or CA authentication
